DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY:
Amazon Bird Peru Rinforest 14 days
Day 1 :
Cusco Huayquecha Reach Station .
Today we leave at 5:30 am from the hotel heading towards Laguna huacarpay to Amazon Bird ( lake Huacarpay) which will take approximately 45 minutes where we can see the bearded mountaineer that is a special hummingbird called
ENDEMIC Amazon Bird. It is the only hummingbird that you can see in the region of Cusco but it does not exist in other parts of the world. We can also observe many other types of birds such as:
plumbeous rail, cinnamon teal, puna teal, yellow billed pintail, White tufted grebe, cinereous harrier, black
chested buzzard Eagle, streak fronted thorn bird, many colored rush tyrant, rusty fronted canastero which is also called ENDEMIC, and many others species amazon.
Afterwards, we will have a quick breakfast and then continue viewing more birds around the lake. Later we will take the bus to Manu to some lakes to stop and observe a creamy crested spine tail which is
ENDEMIC AMAZON, a special bird you can only see in Peru and only in parts. Sometimes we can see the black faced and others. Later we arrive in the higher part of rufterwardta to have lunch at the entrance of the national park of Manu Amazon;
it is named Ajanacco and is about 3500 m.s.n.m From hear we enter the cloud forest to see tanagers y kolibris
antpittas, tyranulets, flycatcher, toucan and tuocanets and many other species until we arrive at Huayquecha reach station. We will arrive approximately 4:30 pm
and later we will take are rooms and then we will search for a swallow tailled nightjar and finally go sleep in Huayquecha.
Day 2 :
Manu Birdwatching – Huayquecha Lodge to Amazon Bird .
Today we leave after breakfast at 5:40 A.M. to observe birds at the elevation of 3600 m.s.n.m such as bird:
puna thistle ail, Rufous Antpitta, puna Tapaculo, Greal sapphire wing, young’s pygmy Owl, red crested coting,
Barred fruit eater, Buff Breasted Mountain Tanager, Hooded Mountain Tanager, Grass green Tanager, Golden plumed Parakeet, Scaly naped Parrot, Moustached plowerpiercer,
Rufous Bellied Bush tyrant, sedge wren, Scarlet Bellied Mountain Tanager, White browed conebill, Three striped Hemispingus, line fronted Canastero, scribble tailed canastero, and many more species bird
. Then we return to Huayquecha for lunch and a short rest. We will then continue searching for more birds like:
White winged Black tyrant, refocus capped thornbill, plushcap, crimson Mandle Woodpecker, trilling tapacuco, gray breasted Mountain toucan, and Blue capped tanager.
Later we will search for a swallow tailed nightjar, and then return to the lodge for dinner.
Day 3 :
Birdwatching – Huayquecha Cock of the Rock Lodge to Tropical Amazon Bird .
Today we will head to Cock of the Rock lodge but all day we have to observe the birds in route such as:
golden collared tanager, Grass green Tanager, scaled metaltail, mountain Casiqui white collared jay, barred
parakeet, Barred fruiteater, Band tailed fruiteater, Marcapata Spinetail , red and white antpitta, while we eat a Box Lunch.
More birds that we will observe consist of Red and White Antpitta, Blue Banded Toucanet, Hooded Mountain
Tanager, Black and Chestnut Eagle, Black solitary Eagle, White throated Antpitta, slaty Tanager, Slaty Backed Chat tyrant, fulvos Wren,
Chestnut crested Cotinga, crested Quetzal, Golden Headed Quetzal, Black Streaked Puffbird, Yellow Throated
Tanager, Buff Breasted Mountain Tanager, Superciliared Hemispingus, and many more. At around 5:30 pm we
will return to the lodge where we will have the chance to see Rufous Bellied Nighthawk, then dinner and to our private rooms.
Day 4 :
Manu Bird – Cock of the Rock Lodge .Amazon Bird .
today we leave early for Lick de Gallito for the Andean Cock of the rock. In the afternoon we have chance to photograph the most beautiful bird which is considered the national bird of Peru Amazon.
. Also we will be able to see: White crowned Tapaculo, Yungas Manakin, crested quetal, versicolored Barbed,
Orange Eared Tanager, Highland Momot, and many more bird in the peruvian Amazon.
After that we shall return to have breakfast then go out for a walk along a trail to see more birds and such as: Slaty
Gnateater, Chestnut breasted Wren, Cinnamon faced Tyranulet, Spotted Nightingale Thrush, Amazonian Ambrella Bird,
Tyrannine Woodcreeper, Masked Trogon, Crimson Bellied Woodpecker, Black Streaked puffbird, Paradise
Tanager, Saffron Crowned Tanager, Golden Tanager, Brown Tinamou, and possibly monkeys and bird.
Later we will return to have lunch at the lodge in the garden where there are blue flowers and local fauna. There
are 13 species of kolibris for example i s the best bird in cloud forest Amazon bird:
Booted Racket Tail, Wire crested Thorntail, Gree Hermit, Buff Tailed Sicklebill, Many Spotted Hummingbird, Violet Fronted Brilliant, White Bellied Woodstar, Peruvian Piedtail, long Tailed Sylph,
Wedge Billed Humminbird, Speckled Humminbird, Fawn Breasted Brilliant, and common Sparkling Violetear.
Then we will have lunch before going for another walk along the road to see the Lyre Tailed Nightjar and the Rufusent Screech Owl .
Then we will return to the lodge to have dinner and go to bed.
Day 5 :
Bird Watching – Cock of the lodge to Amazing Amazon Bird .
Today we will leave after breakfast on the Amazon route to observe many species :
ornate flycatcher, lanceolated monklet, peruvian piedtail, Black backed tody flycatcher, black faced tanager, blue
headed Macaw, chestnut fronted Macaw, fiery capped Manakin, white eyed parakeet, chestnut backed Antshrike,
Golden Tanager, Orange eared Tanager, black solitary eagle, and much more bird.
Next we will go to Pilco Pata and Talaya to eat lunch and take a boat down the river for 20 minutes or lunch. We
will start out for 15 minutes to the Amazonia lodge where we can appreciate diffrent bird:
rufous crested coquette, violet headed hummingbird, golden tailed sapphire, koepcke´s Hermit, amethyst woodstar, rufous webbed Brilliant, and Gould´s jewelfront.
Then we will hike along the trail for 3 horas to search for: Amazonian Antpitta, blue headed macaw, Great
Tinamou , spot back antbird ,Hoalzin, Sungrebe, chestnut capped puffbird, and others before returning to the lodge for dinner.
After dinner we will return to the trail to observe owls such as: Tawny bellied screech owl, long tailed potoo, black
bandad owl, Great potoo, Band Bellied owl and after we return to the lodge.
Day 6 :
Bird to Amazon lodge Peru to Amazon Bird .
Today we will leave after breakfast to travel down the river for 3 hours to the Pantiacolla lodge to observe different bird:
Great Jacamar , Black faced Antbird , Blue crowned Manakin , chestnut eared Aracarí, curl crested Aracari,White
fronted Nunbird, White Flanked Antwren, Long winged Antwren, Gray Antwren, Bluish Slate Antshrike, and Plain winged Antshrike.
We will then return for lunch and a rest before walking through the bamboo part to search birds such as: Peruvian Recurvebill, Rufous Headed Woodpecker, White Throated Jacamar,
Manu Antbird, White line Antbird, Bamboo Antshrike, Goldi’s Antbird, Striated Antbird,White cheeked Tody
Tyrant, Scarlet Hooded Barbet, and much more. Then we are going back for dinner at the lodge to recuperate before embarking on a search for owls.
Day 7 :
Manu Amazon – Panticolla Lodge .Amazon Bird
Today we will leave early after breakfast to walk the trails where we can observe many bird:
Royal Flycatcher, purple Throated Fruitcrow, Amazonian Barred Woodcreeper, Elegant Woodcreeper, Black
Banded Woodcreeper, Rusty Breasted tapaculo, Ash throated Gnateater, Bare Necked Fruitcrow, Band Tailed Manakin,
Round Tailed Manakin, Johannes’s tody Tyrant, white eyed Antwren, white crested spadebill, Ringed Antpipit,
Black tailed leaftosser, Red Necked Woodpecker, Black bellied Cuckoo, Cream Colored Woodpecker, yellow Backed tanager, paradise Tanager, Red crowned Ant Tanager,
Golden Collared toucanet, White throated toucan, sooty Antbird, Black Spotted Bare eye, white throated Antbird,
and mucho mas. After, we shall return to the lodge for lunch and to rest.
In the afternoon we will go hiking another trail to experience: pale winged trumpeter, Barred Forest Falcon, Black
and white Hawk eagle, Ornate Hawk Eagle, Slate colored Hawk, before returning to the lodge for dinner.
Again we will have the option of going out to view owls .
Day 8 :
Pantiacolla Manu lodge to Manu Amazon Bird
On this day after breakfast we will take a boat for approximately 4 hours to the Manu Amazon Lodge where we
sleep for 4 days and have an immense forrest to explore may bird,
and observe rare and exotic specimens. Arriving in the afternoon, after lunch we shall take o another trail to
witness the beauty of species such as bird:
yellow billed Nunbird, fistive coquette, chestnut crowned Foliage Gleaner, pale winged trumpeter, White chinned
sapphre, and possibly others. After supper we have the option to go out and view the Black banded Owl, crested Owl, and Mottled Owl bird.
Day 9 :
Manu Tour Amazon Bird
We will have breakfast early before going out on the bamboo trail for about 50 minutes where we will view species
like the Rufous headed Woodpecker, Rufous Breasted Piculet, Red Billed Scythebill, Chestnut throated Spinetail,
Dusky Cheeked Foliage Gleaner, Brown Rumped Foliage Gleaner, Peruvian Recurvebill, White Cheeked Tody
Tyrant, Flammulated Pygmy tyrant, Large Headed Flatbill, Dusky Tailed Flatbill, Rufous Capped Nunlet, Chestnut Throated
Spinetail, Bamboo Antshrike, Ihering´s Antwren, Dot Winged Antwren, Black Spoted Bare Eye, Goeldi´s Antbird,
Plumbeous Antbird, White Lined Antbird, Long crested Pygmy Tyrant, Pavonine Cuckoo, Rufous Vented Ground Cuckoo, and many more species Bird.
After lunch we will rest until 2:30 pm before leaving for the observation tower viewing birds such as bird:
Red Billed Tanager, Masked Tanager, Plum Throated Cotinga, Spangled Cotinga, Purple Throated Fruitcrow,
pinkThroated Becard, Yellow Backed Tanager, Guira Tanager, Bare Necked Fruitcrow, Sirystes, Rufous Bellied
Euphonia, Dusky Capped Greenlet, Lemon Chested Greenlet, White Necked Puffbird, Pied Puffbird, Paradise
Jacamar, Black and White Hawk Eagle, Macaw , and parrot and more. Then we will head back to the lodge for sustinance and sweet dreams to see many Bird.
Day 10:
Manu Park – Amazon Lodge .
On this lovely morning we will leave early after breakfast at 4:30 am to head down the river to Puerto, then a short 15 minute walk to Macaw Clay Lick ,
Macaw green and Parrot where we wait for the variety of activities the parrots engage in, parrots such as bird ,
Mealy Parrot, blue Headed Parrot, Yellow Crowned Parrot, and the Orange cheeked Parrot is endemic bird,.
After breakfast in los Macaw Red we will experience the majesty of the Red and Green Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Tui Parakeet, Cobalt Winged Parakeet, among others. We might possibly have the chance to see the Harpy Eagle,
Ornate Hawk Eagle, orange Headed Tanager, Spotted Tody Flycatcher, River Tyranulet, subtropical Doradito, and the Greater Ani.
Then we head to Cocha Camungo by boat to a tower 45 meters high to observe Bird :
Guira Tanager, lemon Throated Barbet, Gilded Barbet, Long Billed Woodcreeper, Orange Backed Troupial, Purple Throated Cotinga, Purus Jacamar, and Black eared Fairys.
Then we go for another boat trip for 20 minutes Cocha Blanco for lunch and to and there is an observation platform where we can view various species of the bird.
From here we will take a catamaran to Cocha to view species such as least Grebe, pied Billed Grebe, horned
Screamer, Green Ibis, Agami Heron, Rufescent Tiger Heron, Limpkin, Snail kite, Black Collared Hawk, Sungrebe,
Muscovy Duck, Rufous sided Crake, Gray necked Wood rail, Wattle Jacana, Green King Fisher, Green and Rufous
Kingfisher, Purus Jacamar, Hoatzin, Pale Eyed Black Bird, Band Tailed Antbird, and silvered Antbirds. If we are lucky, we might see Giant Otters or known as Lobos de Rio meaning wolves of the river we can find more bird.
Finally, we will make our way to the comfort of the lodge.
Day 11:
Birdwatching – Manu Amazon lodge .
Today we will have breakfast at 5:00 am then we head out to the observation tower where we will observe many Bird:
Red Billed tanager, White Necked Puffbird, Chestnut winged Hookbill, yellow Backed Tanager, White Throated
Toucan, ChannelBilled Toucan, Curl Crested Aracari, Golden Collared toucanet, yvoryBilled Aracari, Gilded Barbet, Paradise Jacamar,Pale Rumped Swift, Black Bellied Cuckoo.
After we hike down the trail to see collared Puffbird, White Eyed Antwren, Great Jacamar, Collared Trogon,
Pavonine Quetzal, cinereous Mourner, Razor Billed Curassow, Blue Crowned Mankin, Long winged Antwren, Dwarf Tyrant Manakin, long Tailed Woodcreeper , Elegant Woodcreeper , Black Banded Woodcreeper ,
Round Tailed Manakin , Band Tailed Manakin , Blue Back Manakin , Black Faced Antbird , Sooty Antbird ,
Fasciated Antshrike, Plain Winged Antshrike, Black Spotted Bare Eye, and many more in this amazon bird.
We will return to the lodge to eat and rest until 2:00 pm then go to walking down the trail with the mind set to find bird:
Harpy eagle, white Browed Hawk, Red Rumped Cacique, Bronsy Jacamar, Paradise Jacamar, Ruddy Spinetail,
Point Tailed Palmcreeper, Chestnut Capped Puffbird, Black Bellied Cuckoo, Scale Breasted Woodpecker, Ringed Woodpecker, Red Necked Woodpecker, Great Potoo, Black tinamou, Ringed Antpipit, White Crested Spadebill,
Rufous Tailed Flatbill and others. We then return to the lodge for dinner and have the option to go out seeking owls.
Day 12:
Manu Park – Amazonia lodge Peru wildlife Amazon Bird
This will be the last day in Manu Amazon lodge and we have the chance to see some birds that we have missed
such as slender Billed Xenops, Rufous Tailed Xenops, Semicollared Puffbird ,amazon
Curl crested Aracari, Golden Green Woodpecker, Ringed Woodpecker, Cream colored woodpecker, Strong Billed
Woodcreeper, Lineated Woodcreeper, Spot Backed Antbird, Rufous Capped Antthrush, Rusty Belted Tapaculo, White Browed Purpletuft, point Tailed,
great Jacamar, Collared Puffbird, Chestnut Capped Puffbird, Black tailed Leaftosser, cinereous Mourner, Winged Barred Manakin, Blue Manakin, Pavonine Quetzal, Musician Wren, and Red Billed Tanagers.
After lunch we will rest until 2 pm and go to Cocha Piñara to see Pale Eyed Black Birds, Rufous Sided Crake,
Varzea Chiffornis, Buff breasted Wren, Black billed Seed Finch,
Chestnut Eared Aracari, Chestnut Fronted Macaw, Spot Breated Woodpecker, Rusfescent Tiger Heron, Striated
Heron, tui parakeet, Gray Necked Wood- Rail, Long Billed Woodcreeper and sometimes Giant Otters. Then we return for dinner and slumber.
Day 13:
Manu Lodge to Puerto Maldonado .
Today we make our way to Colorado in a boat where we switch to a taxi or mini-bus for about 2 hours. We then
cross the river Inambari in a boat for about 15 minutes to catch another mini-bus to Puerto which takes about 3 hours.
We will make a few stops to see some more bird then head to the hotel to get some well-deserved rest.
Day 14:
Bird Watching – Puerto Maldonado – Cusco – Lima .
On the last day we will head out to observe some more birds. We will go in our mini-bus for about 15 minutes to a
location to await southern Cararas, Southern Lapwings, and Red Breasted
Black Birds, White Tailed kites, White Throated Jacamar, Wattle Jacanas, Upland Sandpipers, Picui Ground Dove,
Blue Headed Macaws, Lesser Yellow Headed Vulture, Chestnut Bellied Seed eaters, Burrowing Owls, Barn Owls, Point Tailed Palm creepers,
Red Bellied Macaws, and Scaled pigeons. After breakfast we will visit the city of Puerto Maldonado to purchase
indigenous art and crafts. Then finally we go to the Cusco airport to catch a flight to Lima where sadly but surely the tour comes to an end.
This Program is new where a great diversity of amazon bird species was explored in fifteen thousand, which has different areas and ecological floors many species of bird .
