Manu Biodiversity -Rainforest Wildlife Trail
Due to altitudinal variations in the Zone, the existing ecosystems in the Reserve are very diverse. However, for to simplify, three big ones are taken into account ecosystems (see Plate N° 2):
1. The high-altitude puna is a strip small that goes from the limit of the snows you see perpetual up to about 3,500 meters. It is the eastern limit of the Andes mountain
range, where are the Manu springs, Alto Madre de Dios and partially those of Mapacho. The puna is characterized by being covered with ichu, for its blue lagoons
and its impressive stunning panoramas towards distant mountains tañas and hills. There the contrast is marked you between the sun that shines in the day and the night
frosts. In the puna they are cultivated different varieties of potatoes and others tubers, in addition to quinoa, tarwi and the kiwicha; and herds of lamas are raised, alpacas and sheep. There is wildlife in the area. nature jungle trip .

Frequently asked questions (FAQs):
RAINFOREST STRUCTURE:
Temperate zone broadleaf forests are often neatly layered. There is a nearly uniform canopy, reaching to the height of the tallest trees. In contrast the tropical rainforest is
not neatly layered and up to five poorly defined strata can be present. The forest structure is complex, maybe one of the most complex ones in the world. It is necessary
to look at the forest as we would look at an ocean horizontally as there is life from the forest floor up to the canopy in trail
What is immediately obvious is the structural complexity. The amazon trail seems immense, dark and enclosing due to the dense canopy foliage which shades the forest interior.
The biggest trees are normally widely spaced, many with large, flaring buttressed roots, some with long, extended prop roots. All the trees are broad-leaved.
Palms abound, especially in the understory. Tree boles are straight and most commonly rise to a considerable height before spreading into crowns, which,
themselves, are hard to discern clearly because of the quantity of other vegetation in amzon trail growing among them. There is an abundance of pineapple-like plants
called bromeliads which adorn the widely spreading branches. Seemingly everywhere are vines, some nearly as thick as tree trunks, which hang haphazardly. Easy to spot on the trees are rounded, basketball-sized termite nests.
The dried tunnels made by their inhabitants vaguely suggest brown ski trails running along the tree trunk in trail
In temperate zone forests, as in Europe or North America, there is a lower count of different species of trees, while in the tropical rainforest this trail the specie richness is a rule, which results in the complexity of the forest.
There are trees of varying heights, including many palms, in both the understory and the canopy. Towering over the rest of the forest are trees labelled emergent. The heavily shaded forest floor is shared between in trail
Manu Biosphere .:
Manu Biosphere Reserve is one of a few truly pristine regions of the tropics and probably the best area of the Rainforest!!
In many other jungle areas, you might be lucky to see only birds, insect and occasionally a big animal because of proximity of humans, but this is not the case of
the Manu – aamazon trail as you can see many monkeys (about 13 different species), a big number of turtles, giant otters, peccaries, capybaras, tapirs and occasionally even
a jaguar there! This makes the Manu National Park an ideal place to observe
Manu National Park .
This UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site covers7,800 square miles or 5,266,800 acres. For much of the park, however, access is limited to a few
Indian tribes, who choose to remain isolated with no out- side contact. Only a small num-ber of researchers and a few thousand visitors are given permission to enter the
park annually. The multiple-use zone, also known as the Reserved Zone, is where a some lodges and permanent establishments have been allowed. The park is one of the
best-known throughout the world for its diverse wildlife. The elevation
ranges from 4,300 to 200 m/14,000 to 660 feet above sea level, greatly contributing to
its biodiversity. Over 800 species of birds are found here, 200 species of mammals, and many others. Few areas of the world can com-park pare. More than 30 indige-nous communities live in Manu,
but you are not likely to encounter them. Areas just outside the park, such as tlhe land held by the Manu Wildlife Center, also offer excellent wildlife-watching opportunities-sometimes better than Manu
itself. The entrance fee for the Reserved Zone is $50 per person.
Manu National Park
Boca Manu
Getting Here
Most tour companies use a combination of flying to/from the Boca Manu airstrip and driving, although some may also bravel by boat downriver to Puerto Maldonado.
Bus Most lodges in the Manu area are accessible by road from Cuzco. They will likely arrange private trans- port, but you may be able to save some money using local
transport. Depending on where you are eaded, travel time can be anywhere between five to 24 hours and depends heavily on the season. Breakdowns are frequent, so even
though it may save you a few bucks, it is best to arrange travel in Cuzco through a tour company. Shintuya is the closest town to the park and will take nearly 24 hours to
reach. There is basic accommodation there.
