Jungle Trips Bird Watching 4 days
Walking Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Expect some simple walks, but also moderate hikes through cloud forests and jungles.
Climate: The climate varies with altitude. Early mornings can be cool to cold in the highlands, while lower elevations offer warmer, sunnier weather.
Accommodation: Comfortable yet rustic jungle lodges with shared or private facilities. Electricity may be limited at some locations, and solo travelers will share rooms at Wayqecha Biological Station.
Bird Photography: The tour offers incredible opportunities for bird photography. The diversity of species and breathtaking landscapes provide excellent subjects.
Jungle Trips Bird Watching — 4-Day Manu Birding Adventure (Short Version)
Day 1: Cusco → Wayqecha Biological Station (2950 m)
Begin early from Cusco, crossing Andean valleys and high passes. Target species include Creamy-crested Spinetail, Chestnut-breasted Mountain-Finch, Cinereous Conebill, and Golden-billed Saltator.
At Acjanaco Pass, transition into cloud forest with chances to see Mountain Caracara, Shining Sunbeam, Puna Thistletail, White-throated Hawk, and Swallow-tailed Nightjar.
Overnight: Wayqecha Biological Station. (Lunch, Dinner)
Day 2: Wayqecha → Cock of the Rock Lodge
Explore rich cloud forests searching for Crimson-mantled Woodpecker, Blue-banded Toucanet, and hummingbirds like Gould’s Inca.
Look for Red-and-white Antpitta, Andean Guan, colorful tanagers, and raptors such as the Black-and-chestnut Eagle.

Day 3: Paradise Lodge – Lower Manu Cloud Forest + Cock-of-the-Rock Lek
Visit the famous Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek. Continue birding in lower Manu cloud forest for species like Golden-headed Quetzal, Saffron-crowned Tanager, Masked Trogon, Amazonian Umbrellabird, and hummingbirds including Booted Racket-tail and Long-tailed Sylph.
Evening nocturnal birding for Rufescent Screech-Owl and Lyre-tailed Nightjar.
Overnight: Paradise Lodge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 4: Paradise Lodge → Cusco
Final morning birding to complete species lists before returning to Cusco.
