Sail the Majestic Amazon River

Embark on a journey along the Amazon River, the largest and most powerful river in the world and one of the seven natural wonders. Sail along its calm waters and immerse yourself in the search for wildlife that inhabits its shores. From spotting pink dolphins to observing intriguing birds and other jungle animals, every moment in the Amazon will be a new adventure.

Day 1: Amazon Jungle Excursions – Discover the Heart of the Amazon

Welcome to the Amazon! Your adventure begins with a warm reception at the airport or your hotel in Iquitos, where our expert naturalist guide will be waiting to greet you. From there, we’ll journey to the Port of Nanay and board our boat to embark on a thrilling Amazon rainforest expedition.

On this unforgettable trip, you’ll experience the “Meeting of the Waters”—where the Nanay River, with its deep black waters, meets the mighty Amazon River, known for its brown hue. Witness the fascinating sight of these two rivers flowing side by side without mixing.

As we venture deeper into the jungle, we’ll stop at the local market to explore the peculiar products of the Amazon. Here, you’ll discover the non-native fruits and foods that are staples for the indigenous communities of the region.

After this scenic boat ride, we’ll arrive at our lodge, where a refreshing afrodisiac soda will be waiting for you, followed by a delicious buffet lunch showcasing the best of Amazonian cuisine.

In the afternoon, we’ll take a boat excursion to a wildlife rescue center, home to a variety of fascinating species, including sloths, armadillos, primates, toucans, macaws, anacondas, and more.

As the evening sets in, enjoy a nocturnal boat ride on the Sinchicuy River, where you’ll have the chance to see night-dwelling creatures like fireflies, frogs, and nocturnal monkeys. The Amazonian symphony of sounds will fill the air as we search for larger animals.

After an exciting day, return to the lodge for a restful night in your comfortable room.

Day 2: Visit the Yaguas Indigenous Community – Immerse Yourself in Amazonian Culture .

Today, we wake up early for an exploration of the primary jungle. Here, you’ll learn about the diverse plant life that thrives in the Amazon, including medicinal plants and towering trees like the Capirona, Chonta, and Lupuna. Along the way, you’ll also have the opportunity to spot wildlife such as monkeys, armadillos, and anteaters.

Next, we embark on a boat ride to witness the amazing pink and gray river dolphins in their natural habitat. It’s a magical moment that’s not to be missed!

After breakfast, we’ll visit the Yaguas community, an indigenous group that has called the Amazon home for generations. During this cultural immersion, you’ll learn about their traditions, crafts, and unique way of life. Watch a traditional dance performance and marvel at the beautiful handmade crafts created by these skilled artisans.

Following this incredible cultural experience, we’ll return to the lodge for a hearty lunch before heading back to Iquitos. From there, you’ll be transferred to the airport or your hotel, bringing your Amazon adventure to a close.

Best Time to Visit the Amazon Rainforest

The Amazon Rainforest is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on what kind of experience you’re seeking. Here’s a quick guide:

Dry Season (July – December):

Weather: Lower rainfall, sunny days, and warm temperatures.
Activities: Perfect for hiking and exploring, as trails are more accessible due to lower water levels.
Wildlife: While animals are more dispersed, you’ll still have the chance to see many species near water sources.

Rainy Season (January – June):

Weather: Increased rainfall and higher humidity, with frequent showers.
Landscape: Experience the lush greenery and vibrant flora of the rainforest at its peak.
Wildlife: The rainy season brings more animal activity, and you’re likely to spot more wildlife, including amphibians, insects, and migratory birds. The rising water levels also make it a great time for spotting aquatic creatures.
Whether you prefer the dry season for easy exploration or the rainy season for abundant wildlife and lush scenery, the Amazon rainforest offers a unique experience no matter when you visit.
