However, the romantic entanglement between Salkantay and the goddess Véronica did not culminate in a joyous ending. Despite the profound connection they shared, Salkantay was compelled to return to Cusco to ensure its residents did not suffer from a lack of water. Consequently, both brothers transformed into majestic snow-capped peaks, continuing to supply water to the Imperial City to this day.
