5-Day Amazon Jungle Tour – Overview

Day 1: Cusco to the Amazon Jungle
Travel from Cusco on an 11-hour scenic journey through the Andes, passing the Pituhualla High Pass (4,750 m) before descending into the cloud forest. Arrive at Mazuco, a gold-mining village, and spend the night in a comfortable lodge. Optional night walk to explore jungle wildlife.

Day 2: Journey to Maquisapayoj
Cross the Inambari River, continue by boat along the Madre de Dios River, and spot diverse wildlife. Arrive at Maquisapayoj Lodge, known for black spider monkeys. Optional night walk to observe nocturnal creatures.

Day 3: Macaw Clay Lick & Tapir Observation

Visit the Macaw Clay Lick at dawn to witness hundreds of macaws and parrots. Later, hike through primary rainforest to the Tapir Lick, where you’ll spend the night in a special observation platform.

 Day 4: Blanco Lake & Camungo Lake
Explore Blanco Lake, home to giant river otters, hoatzins, and sloths. Visit Camungo Lake and climb a 42-meter tower for stunning jungle views. Take a catamaran ride for another chance to see otters. Optional second tapir observation at night.

 Day 5: Return to Cusco
Travel back by boat, car, and minibus, arriving in Cusco in the afternoon. End the adventure with a farewell evening in the city.
