Day 1: Cusco – Rainforest Lodge
Your adventure begins with a 4:30 AM pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, where our private vehicle awaits to take you deep into Manu’s jungle.
The Route: Travel through stunning Andean landscapes and visit the folkloric town of Paucartambo, renowned for its cultural heritage. At Acjanacu, the entrance to Manu National Park, enjoy a short hike across the Puna Grassland Paramo, a vital continental divide.
Wildlife: Spot the Andean Fox, Gray-tailed Deer, and potentially the elusive Andean Bear (Tremarctos ornatus).
Cock-of-the-Rock Lek: Witness the mesmerizing courtship display of Peru’s national bird, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, and potentially see other avian species such as the Blue-banded Toucanet, Golden-headed Quetzal, and Crested Quetzal.
Stay: Spend the night at the Rainforest Lodge, surrounded by lush greenery.
Day 2: Explorer Blanquillo Photography and Tambo Blanquillo Lodge .
The day begins early as we head to the Atalaya Port to transition into the aquatic phase of our expedition along the Madre de Dios River.
Wildlife Along the Way: Spot Hummingbirds, Aracari Toucans, Amazonian Umbrella Birds, Capybaras, Red Howler Monkeys, Rosiate Spoonbills, King Vultures, and Caracaras.
Relaxation Stop: Unwind in natural hot springs before resuming your journey.
Arrival at Tambo Blanquillo: After lunch, explore jungle trails, encountering Dusky-titi Monkeys, owls, and a variety of nocturnal creatures on a night walk.
Day 3: Explorer Blanquillo Photography and Macaw Clay Lick – Blanco Oxbow Lake
Wake early to visit the Macaw Clay Lick, a natural spectacle as flocks of Parakeets, Parrots, and Macaws gather to feed on the mineral-rich clay.
Bird Enthusiast’s Dream: Observe from a camouflaged hideout perfect for bird photography (weather-dependent activity).
Afternoon at Cocha Blanco Lake: Navigate the serene lake on a catamaran, spotting Agami Herons, Kingfishers, Horned Screamers, Spider Monkeys, and the Giant Otter, the Amazon’s largest freshwater carnivore.
Night Adventure: Enjoy a guided night walk to discover nocturnal creatures.
Day 4: Amazonia Lodge to Rainforest Lodge
Begin the day exploring the lush rainforest trails and set off from Tambo Blanquillo Lodge with the chance to spot the elusive Jaguar, alongside White Alligators, Turtles, and Capybaras.
Afternoon Relaxation: Arrive at the Rainforest Lodge, check in, and take a leisurely walk to absorb the jungle’s tranquility. After dinner, join an optional night excursion.
Day 5: Rainforest Lodge to Atalaya Port and Return to Cusco
The day starts with a visit to the Parrot Collpa, a short boat ride from the lodge, where colorful parrots gather for a dazzling natural display.
Breakfast: Enjoy your final meal in the rainforest before preparing for the journey home.
Return to Cusco: Travel via boat and private transport back to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, bringing home unforgettable memories and photographs of your Amazonian adventure photography .
