The Amazon Rainforest Lodge

The Peruvian Amazon is one of the most important regions in the world due to its extraordinary natural and cultural richness. Its vast tropical forests, considered among the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, protect thousands of species of plants and animals, as well as communities that maintain a deep relationship with nature.

With Manu Jungle Trip, travelers can discover an authentic rainforest experience, especially in the Manu region, a territory recognized for its incredible biodiversity and untouched landscapes. Every journey offers the opportunity to observe wildlife, learn about local culture, and enjoy an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon.

Where is the Peruvian Amazon located?

The Peruvian Amazon is located in the eastern part of Peru and forms part of the great Amazon Basin, the largest tropical rainforest system in the world. It covers more than half of the country’s territory and stretches from the eastern slopes of the Andes to the borders with Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador.

This region is made up of an impressive combination of rivers, forests, lagoons, mountains, and protected natural areas. The Amazon River, one of the most important rivers on the planet, originates in the Peruvian Andes and flows through a significant part of this territory.

The Amazon Rainforest Lodge

The main gateways to the Peruvian Amazon are:

Iquitos: Access point to the northern Amazon and natural reserves such as Pacaya Samiria.
Puerto Maldonado: Gateway to Tambopata and areas with exceptional biodiversity.
Cusco and the Manu region: A connection between the Andes and the Amazon rainforest.

Due to its geography, many Amazon destinations are reached through flights, river transportation, and specialized vehicles, making the journey itself part of the adventure.

The Peruvian Amazon: A land full of life and diversity

The Peruvian Amazon is mainly divided into two major regions:

High Jungle or Cloud Forest (Ceja de Selva)

Located near the Andes Mountains, this area features vegetation-covered mountains, waterfalls, cloud forests, and a wide variety of species adapted to different altitudes.

Destinations such as Chachapoyas, Oxapampa, and Amazon transition zones showcase landscapes where the Andes and the rainforest meet.

Lowland Amazon Rainforest

This is the tropical region of great rivers, humid forests, and extensive natural areas. Here you can find iconic destinations such as Manu National Park, Tambopata, and other Amazon reserves.

The lowland rainforest is known for its incredible concentration of species:

  • Macaws and tropical birds
  • Amazonian monkeys
  • Pink river dolphins
  • Caimans
  • Giant otters
  • Butterflies and thousands of plant species

Every trail and every river offers a new opportunity to discover Peru’s extraordinary biodiversity.
