Embark on the Ultimate Amazon Adventure: 5 Days Exploring Pacaya Samiria National Reserve
Day 1: Departure & Jungle Immersion
Your journey begins with a transfer from your accommodation or Iquitos Airport by private vehicle, traveling towards Nauta, a town just an hour and 45 minutes away. Upon reaching Santo Domingo, we’ll acquire our official entry permit to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve and journey by boat to the village of Buenos Aires. After settling in, we’ll explore the jungle environment on foot, searching for wildlife. Our evening brings a nocturnal walk to search for spiders, snakes, lizards, frogs, and other fascinating creatures under the jungle’s nighttime symphony. Our overnight stay will be in local housing deep in the Amazon.
Day 2: Peru Nature Amazon Iquitos – Early Mornings & River Exploration
After an early rise to witness the magic of the Amazon sunrise, we set off on a morning canoe ride along the riverbanks, spotting monkeys and sloths. We’ll continue deeper into the rainforest on a 3-hour boat journey along the Pucate River. On the way, we’ll try our hand at traditional piranha fishing, led by local guides.
You’ll have a chance to swim with the pink dolphins and explore more of the jungle on foot. We’ll take a 2-3 hour hike at Iricahua Cocha, where we’ll spot Woolly Monkeys, Howler Monkeys, and Titi Monkeys. The day ends with a nocturnal excursion for giant river crocodiles (caimans) and camping under the stars.
Day 3: Peru Nature Amazon Iquitos in Deep Jungle Exploration & Wilderness Survival
Start the day early with a canoe trip to explore hidden jungle treasures. Our next activity is a botanical walk to discover Amazonian medicinal plants. After learning how to harvest water from the “water vine,” a survival skill in this terrain, we continue into the depths of Pacaya Samiria.

Day 4: Uncovering Deeper Wilderness & River Giant Exploration
Early in the morning, we’ll embark on a 2-hour boat ride further into the wilderness. Arriving at Quebrada del Fraile, we’ll hike in search of Howler Monkeys and Woolly Monkeys. With birds like scarlet and green macaws and blue and yellow macaws, there will be plenty to photograph. The jungle’s allure continues with sightings of giant river otters and a thrilling canoe ride.
Our final evening brings another opportunity for nocturnal exploration. The day ends with more time in the wild as we camp beneath the stars.
Day 5: Morning Bliss & Return to Civilization
On our last day, we’ll wake up early for a peaceful canoe outing along the river. After a final visit to Buenos Aires, where you can meet the locals and shop for crafts, we’ll return to Nauta and travel back to Iquitos, where your unforgettable journey through the heart of the Amazon concludes
