Day 1: Manu National Park Trip From Cusco – Rainforest Lodge
Your unforgettable four-day Manu National Park Tours from Cusco begins with an early morning transfer at 5:00 a.m. from your hotel in Cusco. Traveling in private transportation, we head toward the eastern Andes and the edge of the Amazon rainforest. Peru birding
Our first stop is the small Andean village of Huancarani, where we enjoy a traditional local breakfast. After breakfast, we continue to the colonial and folkloric town of Paucartambo, renowned for its preserved architecture and vibrant cultural traditions.
Our local expert guide will explain the importance of this historic town, its significance during the Inca period, and how local residents have maintained their ancestral customs over generations.
Next, we ascend to Acjanaco Pass, the official entrance to Manu National Park Peru. From here, we hike to the scenic Balcón del Este viewpoint, where you can admire breathtaking panoramic views of the Amazon Basin and the vast protected rainforest of Manu National Park.
After enjoying these pristine landscapes, we descend by vehicle toward San Pedro, a region famous for sightings of Peru’s national bird, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. Accompanied by our experienced Amazon naturalist guide, we take a short introductory hike—your first close encounter with the incredible biodiversity of Manu National Park.
In the afternoon, we transfer to our Rainforest Lodge, where you will spend the night in a comfortable private ensuite room. A delicious dinner is served as the sounds of the jungle surround us.

Day 2: Manu National Park Trip Rainforest Lodge – Palotoa Ecological Reserve (Mammal Clay Lick)
After a delicious breakfast, we continue exploring the Peruvian Amazon rainforest. We drive to Atalaya Port, making several interesting stops along the way.
During the journey, we observe coca plantations, visit a hummingbird attraction center, and stop at a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Madre de Dios River winding through dense jungle vegetation.
At Atalaya Port, our road journey ends and we board a motorized boat to travel along the Alto Madre de Dios River. Along the riverbanks, we may spot a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, turtles, caimans, capybaras, sloths, and—if we are lucky—large jungle predators often referred to as the “king of the jungle Jaguar .”
Later, we arrive at Aguas Calientes, where we enjoy a relaxing bath in the natural hot springs, surrounded by rainforest scenery.
Afterward, we continue deeper into the jungle by boat until reaching our lodge in the Palotoa Ecological Reserve. Here, you will stay overnight in a private ensuite lodge room, immersed in pristine primary rainforest.

Visit to the mammal clay lick, where we may observe nocturnal mammals feeding on mineral-rich clay. The night is spent on a platform equipped with sleeping mats, mosquito nets, and camping gear.

Day 3:Macaw & Parrot Clay Lick – Exploring the Amazon Rainforest
On the third day of your Manu National Park tour from Cusco, we begin early to witness one of the Amazon’s most impressive natural spectacles: the macaw and parrot clay lick.
Here, dozens of macaws, parrots, and other bird species gather to feed on mineral-rich clay, creating a vibrant display of color and sound. We enjoy a traditional jungle breakfast while observing this unforgettable wildlife experience.
After returning to the lodge, we set out on a guided hike deep into the Amazon rainforest. We recommend carrying water and snacks in a small daypack.
During the hike, there is a chance to spot peccaries, monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, and many other rainforest animals. The area is also rich in butterflies and birdlife, including harpy eagles, toucans, and parrots.
Our guide introduces you to medicinal plants, towering giant trees, and various species of palm trees used by local communities. Lunch is enjoyed in the heart of the jungle.
While walking through wetlands, we may spot caimans. The afternoon includes practical Amazon survival lessons, such as recognizing edible fruits, finding water, and basic tree-climbing techniques.
After returning to the lodge, we enjoy dinner and gather around a campfire. Later, you may join an optional night walk to observe nocturnal animals and insects.

Day 4: Palotoa Ecological Reserve – Cusco
After a final Amazonian breakfast, we check out of the lodge and take a boat back to Atalaya Port, where our private transport will be waiting.
The return journey to Cusco includes several stops to stretch, use restrooms, and enjoy lunch while appreciating the changing landscapes as the rainforest gradually transitions back into the Andes.
We arrive in Cusco at approximately 6:00 p.m., marking the end of an extraordinary 4-day Manu National Park adventure filled with wildlife, culture, and unforgettable natural beauty.
