What is the Inca Jungle Trek : The Inca Jungle Trek is a 4-day, 3-night tour (may vary by operator) that takes travelers from Cusco to Machu Picchu, combining various adventure activities such as:

 Cycling in the Andes

The adventure begins with a bike descent from Abra Málaga (4,316 m above sea level), a snow-covered mountain pass. From there, you descend more than 1,500 meters through scenic curves until you reach the edge of the jungle.

During the journey:

  • You’ll enjoy panoramic views of the valleys,
  • You’ll cross areas with natural waterfalls,
  • And feel the thrill of traveling a route with unique ecological contrasts.

 Rafting and Water Adventure : On the afternoon of the first day (optional and subject to weather conditions), you can enjoy an exciting rafting trip down tropical rivers with class III and IV rapids.  Hiking on Inca Trails and Plantations

During the following days, you’ll hike along trails used by the ancient Incas, surrounded by:

  • STARTING POINT: Pick-up from 5:00 am to 5:25 am from your accommodation in Cusco. If you are close to the office in Cusco, you may meet us there at 5:30 am
  • ENDING POINT: Drop-off in Cusco at the main square around 10:30 pm, or at your hotel (you must inform us in advance if you’d like to be dropped off at your hotel)
  • DEPARTURE: We have daily departure you can book for any date
  • GROUP SIZE: Usually 12 to 14 people maximum of 16 people
  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 4,630 m / 15,228 ft
  • ACCOMMODATIONS: 1 night in the Mountain Sky Huts, 03 nights in the hotel
  • MEALS: 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches, 4 dinners, 3 tea times + wake-up teas
  • MACHU PICCHU: Entrance ticket included

What kind of backpack do I need for the trip? New Inca Jungle Trek

For this adventure, we recommend bringing a 30-40 liter backpack. This should only contain the essentials for the 5 days of the trek. Any extra luggage can be safely stored at your hotel in Cusco or at the Lorenzo Expeditions office.

How can I climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain?

To hike either of these iconic mountains, you’ll need to purchase a ticket in advance. Huayna Picchu costs an additional $60 USD per person, and it’s advisable to book at least 3 months ahead. If you’re interested in securing your spot, simply contact our reservations team.

Will there be lodging or camping?

During the trek, you’ll stay in comfortable lodges. You’ll spend one night each in Santa Maria, Llactapata, and two nights in Aguas Calientes at a local hotel.

Is the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu challenging?

The main challenge for most trekkers is the altitude. If you’ve spent two days acclimatizing in Cusco, you should have no trouble with the altitude during the trek. Most of the trail itself is manageable for average fitness levels.
